| I'm looking to trade my 2000 Ford Windstar SEL for a cruiser motorcycle. I'm specifically looking for a Honda Shadow or Kawasaki Vulcan, but will look at other brands, sportbikes, standards, touring bikes, or whatever. The van is also for sale for $3000.
The van is spruce green two tone with all the bells and whistles. Leather seats, power sliding doors, front and rear air, cd player, tv and vcr, aluminum alloy wheels, etc. The van has been well maintained and has 85,000+ miles.
The problems, the transmission shutters/slips in first gear. Once you get past first gear the trans ships fine. I've looked into the repair, and a used trans goes for around $1000. I'm not sure about an overhaul.
The front heat does not work and I think its the blend door in the plenum chamber. My mechanic quoted me around a $700 repair.The rear heat works fine, and the front and rear a/c worked great all summer. The driver power sliding door power motor does not work, but it works manually fine. There are other odds and ends, it is a 7 year old van.
The good, the paint and the interior is in great shape, the engine is in great shape, uses no oil, three tires are in really, really good shape, 1 tire, a michelin is so,so. This in repaired shape, values for $7000 on NADA.
This van carted my family around fine, but we're not interested in fooling with the transmission repair, and we've got another sedan and have discovered we can do fine it it. The wife wants to two up ride this year and my sport bike is not made for comfort.
